Conference Updates

The early bird registration rate has been extended for anyone who signs up for another year in IDAhope Writers--that brings the total to $65.  Don't miss this opportunity!

If you don't have the money to pay for the conference, IDAhope is offering five full scholarships.  To apply, send your name, financial need, and short essay on what you think you would get out of the conference to ameuser@cableone.net.

Pacific Press is now planning to send us an editor to teach a workshop and offer appointments!  I'm working to get a schedule of workshops out to everyone.  On top of our keynote speakers, we also have Sherrie Lord, Christina Berry, Sherrie Ashcraft and Kat Crawford teaching.

On a sad note, Jeannie St. John Taylor will no longer be joining us due to her husband's illness, though she will still offer appointments over the phone.  Keep her in your prayers as well as other ACFW members who seem to be dealing with health issues.

If you've registered for the conference already, make sure to take advantage of the contest and critique.  The contest is for five pages--email these to skopp7321@q.com.  The critique is ten pages and can be sent to lionheartedkat@cox.net.  These need to be turned in at least one week before the conference.

Please help to spread this information, and I look forward to seeing you at our first annual IDAhope Conference!

September Meeting

Next meeting is the 25th.  We will have Gabe Heter speaking on designing your own author website and will also offer a group critique.  All are welcome to bring one page of their work to read aloud.

Photo Opportunity: All authors need a headshot for their website (see above) and publicity.  O2 Photography is offering our group a discount if we arrange for our photos to be taken at the same location.  Regular cost is $65 for a high resolution photograph on a disk, but if we have five people interested the price drops to $50 and if we have ten people interested the price drops to $40.  If you are interested, please email Angela at ameuser@cableone.net.

Last, make sure to spread the word about our upcoming 2009 conference.  More information on the website.
